Bitcoin Birr - Ethiopia

BitcoinBirr originated as an effort to address the devaluation of the Ethiopian Birr compared to foreign currencies. The founder, identifying as "BitcoinBirr" online, believes that understanding and adopting Bitcoin could provide significant value and strength to the Ethiopian people. The project has a strong focus on education and ensuring information is accessible in local languages.

• Ongoing:

  • Focus on continuous learning about money, Bitcoin, mining and energy.

  • Actively looking to collaborate on open-source initiatives related to digital wallets and financial services.

  • Providing opportunities for users to practice with Bitcoin using the Lightning Network (200 satoshis transactions in telegram).

• 2021 Priorities:

  • Translating Bitcoin books and relevant materials into local Ethiopian and Eritrean languages, starting with "The Little Bitcoin Book."

  • Building a community that supports Bitcoin education and adoption.

  • Promoting the understanding of Bitcoin’s value and application in the Ethiopian context.

• Future Goals:

  • Continue expanding educational resources in local languages.
